Well, kernel 2.6.2 seems to make kino behave much nicer under pressure. I think however that exporting the dv to mpeg is slower as the kernel is too busy making my desktop run snappier. Not that I'm complaining :)
Fedora core 2 - I guess I was dreaming about getting that anytime soon. Mirrors down here in Oz haven't picked up the ISOs yet, and bittorrent runs slower than my old 28.8k modem - must be the corporate firewall. I'm thinking maybe I should just ignore the new distro and stick with my jhbuild
built Gnome 2.5.3 desktop and try hacking things to work myself.
Man I've got to get a new monitor - my current 15 inch CRT is such a piece of crap.
vcdimager example XML files here
. Very useful for making chapters work.
I'm also interested in getting project utopia
up and running on my redhat 8+9+fedora desktop machine. Fedora core 2 here I come....
I'm bloody glad I put this blog together - I'd forgotten all the little tweaks I needed to get my gear working... next thing is to try the 2.6 kernel and see if the choppy as buggery kino operation disappears (or is at least a bit smoother)
While I'm at it, I think I'll give kino 0.7.0 a go and hope the gtk2 version isn't too much slower than the 1.2 version :)
